Little Benjamin Caswell loves the postman.

Every morning, he rushes to the window to see the post van pull up and to wave out.

Posting to Love What Matters, his mother Sandra Caswell explains how Benjamin greets the postman every day with a drink:

"He makes sure our mailman has something to drink every morning when he delivers our mail. When he hears our dogs bark around 10 a.m. he knows to run to the fridge, grab a drink (usually a Gatorade or water bottle) and greet our sweet mailman at the door."

Caswell is blown away by the friendship that the two have formed:

"This has gone on for quite some time now and the friendship that they have formed blows me away. Our mailman is never too busy to sit and talk to Ben or even myself about life.

He always takes time out of his day to make Ben feel loved."

The feeling is mutual with little Ben occasionally walking the neighbourhood with his mother searching for the mailman:

"There have been times where we missed him by just a minute and Ben makes sure we walk the neighbourhood until he finds our mailman to give him his morning drink."

The Saturday before Christmas, however, the postman sped off without having his daily drink. Caswell recalls her surprise when she went to the door:

"On our porch was a present addressed to Ben, saying 'For your kindness all year.'"

Inside was a farm animal set, like the animals they would talk about everyday.

Caswell says that the postman has now become an important part of their day:

"Our entire family values our mailman as if he was one of ours. We are forever thankful to him for starting Bens day off in the best way he could ever ask for.

We are thankful for the countless times he has sat down with Ben just to talk about animals. We are thankful for the junk mail that he leaves in Ben's plastic mailbox."

Ben's friendship has reminded a lot of people with their own mail carriers:

We were not prepared for this overload of cuteness.
