Even if the rain is keeping you cooped up inside, you and your toddler can still have great fun. Remember, an entertained youngster is a happy one.

Here are five rainy day activities that you can do with your toddler:

Find teddy

This game will help your little one understand that just because something is out of sight doesn’t mean that it is gone; it will also allow them to develop their problem solving skills. All you need is a teddy and your little one’s curious side. Get your youngster to close their eyes while you hide ted but don’t make it too hard to find otherwise they will just get frustrated and upset.

Pasta pictures

This is a great game to let your little one express their creativity and will last for a couple of hours. All you need is some dried pasta, poster paint, PVC glue, paper and your little one’s artistic skills.  Glue the pasta onto the paper and let your child go wild painting the pasta. Get involved and show your son or daughter just how creative you can be.

Build a tower

If you have LEGO or tower blocks lying around, a rainy day is a great time to make use of them. Not only will your little one have great fun building the world’s highest tower just to knock it down but they will also be developing their fine motor skills.

Dance

You don’t need a box full of toys to keep kids happy; turn on a little music and watch them move. Make sure you get down on the flour with your little one to show them what to do. This activity won’t just tire your kids out and leave you all rolling around the floor laughing it will also help to develop their coordination.

Pouring

All children love playing with water and your kiddie is bound to love this. Lay plenty of towels down, fill up a basin with water and let your youngster have a blast. Add a little food colouring to the water and give them cups and bowls to pour with. This is also a great way for your toddler to develop their fine motor skills such as picking things up between their fingers.
