Your preschooler will start to question many things and of course, come to you for answers. While it may seem impossible to answer some of them, here are some ways to handle those tricky tot questions:

Is Santa Claus/Easter Bunny real?
This response entirely depends on you and your decision on what you would like your little one to believe when it comes to magic. While some parents may feel compelled to tell the truth about Santa and other fantasies, it’s perfectly ok if you prefer to put off this conversation for when your child is a little older.

Where do babies come from?
The stork story is often the most tempting tale to tell your little one, but it’s a good idea to at least approach the topic of the birds and bees with your tot. It doesn’t have to be detailed as your little one wouldn't be able to understand everything anyway. But it's still ok to give a vague description about babies and mummy's eggs, and how mummy's egg starts to grow into a baby in mummy’s tummy.

Why did our dog go away?
Death is never an easy topic to deal with, and of course can be even more difficult to explain to our tots. While we may prefer to say that your child’s favourite pet has gone away or gone to sleep, this will of course will only start to raise more questions, so again, honesty is the best policy.  Your little one will not understand everything, so it's best to keep the topic vague and simple. Help your child understand that it’s okay to feel sad, but also show them that they’ll be able to find their way out of those sad feelings and be happy again.

What’s the difference between girls and boys?
Like the baby talk, this not an easy topic but it’s something all parents should be prepared for. Your child is going to question the differences between the sexes, especially if they're interacting with both boys and girls. The important to thing is not to become embarrassed about the topic but approach it in the most honest way possible and use the proper terms in relation to genitals.
