Kids can be terribly energetic, making settling down for bed a rather awkward task sometimes.

Thankfully, we have some handy tips for you, on how you can settle your kids if they don't feel like going to bed:

1. Scented Wonder

Do you have some lavender candles floating around the house? It is no secret that certain essential oils help the body to relax, and ultimately can lull you into slumber. Light some scented candles and let the kids relax, and settle.

2. Sharing is caring

We won't lie to you, tonight you may all be piling into the one bed (kind of exciting!) The little ones may be a bit scared occasionally, making it tricky to settle down and fall asleep. However, if they jump into bed with mum and dad, they'll feel safe, and should drift off nicely.

3. Soothing Music

Struggling to get the little ones to settle down? Music can be a fantastic way to help the kiddos unwind, and relax. Even soothing white noise, like waves or animal noises, can be a brilliant way to help them nod off. Time to dust off your lullabies, mums.

4. Build a fort

This might sound a tad ridiculous, but it is a guaranteed way to get the kiddies all wrapped up in bed. Build a cosy bed fort, and snuggle up with them until the nod off. The kids will see this as exciting, unable to resist settling in to comfort.

5. Story time

Make a big deal about reading them a bed time story tonight! Pick a special book, let them wear their favourite pyjamas, and settle into bed. Naturally, it has been a day of excitement, so they are probably tired. They just need to sit still in order to realise this - hence why story time is ideal!
