Most of us give little thought to the potential dangers associated with mobiles.

That's why this mum was so shocked whe her mobile exploded next to her sleeping toddler!

Lucy Pinder was sleeping next to her three-year-old son Joseph with her phone charging on the floor, when the Samsung device suddenly started smoking and burst into flames.

The waitress from Hull, Yorkshire was sharing her bed with toddler Joseph when the phone woke her up with a giant bang."I woke up to a massive bang and the smell of burning," Lucy told The Sun

"Joseph was screaming and the smell of burning was unreal."

Lucy's husband Michael came running into the roon after hearing the commotion, and was shocked to find the phone had charred the carpet and bed.

Lucy said: "Michael thought we'd been burgled and he came storming up the stairs into the room."

He put out the smouldering phone while Lucy took her son into the next room.

"We were so shaken up," she said. "If the phone had been charging under my pillow instead of on the floor, we would have been seriously burned. Now I'm terrified of leaving my phone on charge overnight."

Lucy took the phone to the shop where she'd bought it the next dsay, and it was sent to a factory in Korea for diagnostics.

The factory couldn't find what had caused it to explode, but sent Lucy  new phone and £1200 (€1540) to replace the scorched furniture.

Lucy had only bought the phone two months earlier, and had no previous problems with it.

"I want to warn people how dangerous it can be leaving your phone to charge overnight," she said.
