16-month-old Minnie has become a famous tot, thanks to her unusual rescue. Firefighters were called out to rescue little Minnie, after the toddler managed to get herself stuck in a mop bucket.

Minnie Snodgrass from South Yorkshire in the UK somehow ended up in the bucket, when her mum Gemma was the mopping the floor at their home.

Gemma said she went upstairs after mopping the kitchen floor, when she heard Minnie’s brother Matthew who is four, shout about what had happened.

“She must have climbed in and sat down and got wedged. I went upstairs to put some sheets on the bed and then I heard her brother Matthew shout ’Mum, Minnie’s stuck’. I picked up the bucket and was panicking when I couldn’t get her out.”

Gemma’s mother, Rose drove them to hospital, where Mrs. Snodgrass managed to film part of the incident on her mobile phone.

Fortunately South Yorkshire’s local firemen came to rescue and freed Minnie from the mop bucket in the hospital. Four firefighters used bolt cutters to free her and she was found to be unharmed.

A spokesman from the local fire station said they were the only ones to rescue Minnie from the mop bucket.

“If we weren’t here to rescue toddlers from mop buckets, who would? It’s another example of the vast range of work the modern fire and rescue service is called to respond to and which the public rely on us for.”
