My toddler never seems to sit still – is there anything I should be concerned about?

Toddlers are naturally very busy little people. In fact, it shouldn’t be any surprise if your child doesn’t ever seem to slow down. However, there’s a difference between normal toddler activity and an involuntary motion, like a nervous tic, or some other excessive activity.

If you notice any involuntary motion or activity that your child seems to exhibit often, it’s best to speak to your doctor.

It could be that your child’s constant motion is caused by ADHD, or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, although that is hard to diagnose in an already naturally active toddler.
Another possible cause is some form of undiagnosed neurological disorder, however, again, your doctor will need to examine your child, and possibly run some tests, before this can be diagnosed.

Whether it’s ADHD or some other problem, the results of testing will determine the best course of treatment, but in most cases, treatment is available, and will help to solve the problem.
