Little Millie Hughes has cerebral palsy, a disorder affecting muscle tone, movement and motor skills.

As a result, the two-year-old can't walk unless she's leaning on a frame or being supported by her parents.

It means that she can't play very much with her twin brother Evan, whose perfect health allows him to live as he wishes.

But he's not about to leave Millie sitting on the sidelines.  In fact, he's always eager to help his sister in any way he can.

"Millie is such a character and is desperate to be able to get up and play with Evan. It's really sad, that," mum Natalie, from Staffordshire, told The Mirror.

"They love each other very much and he'll ask 'are you ok Millie?' and try and help her up. He fetches shoes and toys for her and always makes sure if he has a drink or biscuit she gets one too."

"When we go to the park, he makes sure she has a good time and pushes her on the swing which is lovely to see."

While having such a supportive twin brother is a huge help, Millie's parents are hoping to raise funds so she can have an operation that would improve her mobility.

A Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy costs £40,000 and involves cutting nerves in the lower spine that are responsible for muscle rigidity.

This could allow Millie to walk, run and play with her younger twin. Millie's limitations were brought home to Natalie last week when her twins attended a dance class, and Millie was unable to fully participate.

"It was heartbreaking as Millie was copying the dance teacher and doing all the arm movements perfectly but was unable to move her legs while I held her up by her hip," she said.

"To be able to go to dance classes and take part properly would be amazing. It would mean the world if she could have this operation."

"Even at this age she knows she's dependent on us - if Evan goes off she wants to follow she announces 'me walk' and I hold her to follow after him. It would just be brilliant have them be able to play together."
