You asked

How do I get my toddler to sleep later in the morning?

If your toddler is getting up too early, you should determine if they are getting enough sleep, or if they are just getting up earlier than you would like them to.

Toddlers need between 11 and 13 hours of sleep per night. If they are not getting that, check to see if there is something that is waking them up so early. It could be that the sun is streaming in their bedroom window and waking them up. If so, a simple darkening window blind should do the trick.

Another reason your child could be waking too early is their nappy.  When a toddler is ready to begin potty training, they become uncomfortable when they are wet. If your toddler’s nappy is soaked and leaky every morning, this could be the reason they are waking up. You may want to change to a super absorbent “night time” nappy and try to limit liquids before bed.

Lastly, notice what time your toddler is going to sleep at night. If you are putting them to bed too early, it would be no surprise if they awake early.

It is very important for the health of your toddler that they get adequate sleep every night. If you have tried everything and your toddler is still not sleeping at least 11 to 13 hours per night, consult your paediatrician.
