You asked

What is the proper nap schedule from age 12 to 24 months?

Between 12 and 24 months of age, a child requires about 12 to 14 hours of sleep per day.

Most children at this age are still taking daily naps. The duration of a nap can vary from child to child and while they may have previously been taking two naps per day, most likely that has been decreased to one nap per day.

Afternoon naps are the best and will vary from an hour to three hours. But you must be sure not to put your toddler down too late in the afternoon for a nap. This will put their night time schedule off and they’ll want to stay up later.

Whether your child sleeps for one hour or three hours make sure you are consistent about nap time. It’s recommended to have a nap time ritual that will allow your toddler to settle down and get into a restful mindset.
