Mum Review: Testing the Thule Urban Glide

Mums Say Reviews
I was recently given the chance to take the Thule Urban Glide stroller for a test spin by MummyPages and now I think I may be Thule's biggest fan!
A few months ago, I decided to start my ‘get back into shape’ campaign by going for daily walks and jogs with my baby, Thomas. However, not all buggies are built the same, and my old one really wasn't suited to a brisk stroll or jog. Trying to keep the buggy stable and worrying about my baby’s comfort made the whole experience awful and I gave up very quickly.
Earlier this summer, MummyPages offered me the chance to test the Thule Urban Glide stroller and I swear I've gone out for a jog with my seven-month-old nearly every day since!
I did lots of research before Thomas arrived when it came to purchasing our buggy and at that time, I thought 'jog-friendly' strollers were just gimmicks. I really don't feel the same way anymore!
Thule Urban Glide is marketed as an all-round sports stroller and trust me – this stroller is the real deal. Within seconds of beginning my jog with Thomas in tow, I noticed the difference. My little one wasn’t on the brink of severe motion sickness and I wasn’t worried about toppling the whole thing over. In fact, Thomas was actually asleep about 15 minutes into my session. Of course, he woke up full of energy the second we arrived back home...
I was also able to jog much more efficiently and I could really feel the benefits of the exercise. I even felt energised and relaxed once I got home!
In case you're a person who likes to know the facts and figures before buying something, there are a number of specific functions that make Thule Urban Glide the perfect stroller for mums who want to combine exercising with ‘baby time’.
- The swivelling front wheel can be locked into place for safe jogging.
- It has an ergonomic handlebar that is comfortable to grip and can be adjusted to the right height for you.
- The rear suspension means a smooth and comfortable ride for Baby.
- The padded seat reclines to a near flat position for on-the-go naps (just for Baby, not Mum unfortunately).
- It has a one-handed compact fold system for storing and transporting.
- There is a large storage compartment with zippered water resistant cover.
- Finally, it also has a multi-position canopy for added protection. Oh and this has a view-in roof port so you can see your child.
While Thule Urban Glide is obviously made to suit a mum’s (or dad’s!) fitness regime, I've also found it to be a great buggy for anyone living in an urban area. It’s easy to handle, lightweight and simple to manoeuvre through crowds, as well as down awkward streets.
If you're a driver, take note that this buggy can be easily folded and slipped into your boot, which means minimal fumbling while trying to get your little one in and out of the car quickly and safely. It also gives you more options when it comes to your jogs, as you can easily transport you and your baby to new parks or running trails.
I honestly think the Thule Urban Glide stroller is the bee's knees and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to exercise with their little ones. I know my Thomas loves our outings and after testing it for a few weeks, I'm definitely considering investing in one of these strollers for my family.
