A headteacher who asked parents not to smoke at the gates of their children’s primary school has become the victim of a hate campaign.

Susan Papas was brought in to improve standards in the ailing South London school in September and after introducing a number of new measures, has already reduced the number of children turning up late by half.

However, despite positive results, a group of parents have now allegedly threatened to smoke in a ‘picket line’ outside the school gates after the headteacher requested that they didn’t smoke in that area.

After enduring anonymous abuse at the hands of this group, Papa remains dedicated to introducing methods she thinks will improve her school.

‘I think any parent has the right to smoke. However, I asked parents not to outside the school gates as it’s a narrow road and a lot of other parents who were arriving with buggies were complaining about the smoke they could not escape,’ said Papas.

What do you think? Should parents refrain from smoking at school gates?
