New research shows children in the UK are now working over 54 hours a week between school and extra-curricular activities.

The study found parents are over-timetabling their children with extra-curricular activities in addition to their school commitments in order to give them an advantage.

Most children already complete 32.5 hours at school Monday to Friday, as well as seven hours and 28 minutes of homework every week.

On top of this, parents are enrolling their kids into at least two activities a week, such as sports, dance classes or music lessons, in an effort to help them find something in which they shine.

In addition, most parents say they actively read with their children for at least 43 minutes a day, as well as spending about seven hours a week teaching their children through play.

What do you think? Does this sound familiar? Do you think your child is over-scheduled?
