Warning to parents about 'choking game'
Parents are being warned about a shocking new 'choking game’ being played by teens.
It involves kids either engaging in self-strangulation or strangulation with a group of friends. Teens are literally putting something around their neck to the point where they faint or become unconscious. The experience apparently gives kids a euphoric high just before they lose consciousness.
The ‘game’ is perceived among the 11 - 16 year olds as being a safe way to get high because it doesn’t involve drugs, but Dr. Kevin Carson, from Temple Street Children’s Hospital, explains that it starves the brain of oxygen which can cause severe brain damage and even death.
The ‘game’ has caused the death or hospitalisation of teens in both the UK and Ireland.
What do you think? Do you know what your kids are up to? Have you ever heard of the 'choking game’? Will you explain the dangers to your child?
