Getting your child to eat their greens can be a frustrating task but the new sweet Brussels sprouts may be the answer, and they are ready just in time for the festive dinner.

Christmas wouldn’t be the same with the little green vegetable, even though kids, and even adults, will turn their noses up at it. However, the new ‘child-friendly’ greens will apparently trick the brain into thinking that they are a treat rather than a green and even contain twice as much Vitamin C per portion than an orange.

The new sprout is now “being hailed as the Holy Grail of green veg for children.”

According to scientists, the brain considers bitter food to contain toxins and a kid’s brain will go into survival mode when they are offered the traditional Christmas dinner vegetable; however, “the sweet, nutty version is likely to send out the green light and tell them to tuck in.”

Amy Lance, Waitrose’s sprout expert, claims: “The humble Brussels sprout is a wonderful bundle of deliciousness, but so often overlooked by children or picky eaters.”

Four-year-old Charlie Heath was chief tester of the new sprout and said: “I like these sprouts. I don’t like the yucky ones my mummy cooks.”
